Physical Description: Oshira is an oriental gentleman, but suprisingly large for his culture and race. His skin is a strange mixture of the tan oriental past life and the sickly white of the undead. He has no hair on top of his head as he used to shave it the past life. He stands about 6'1" and weighs just under 200 pounds. His body tone is amazing. When seen without his cloaks on, every muscle on his body sticks out at attention.

History: As a boy he dreamed of fighting in the royal armies of Japan and planned to grow up to be a greatly respected Samurai of the far east. He spent much of his time as a boy studying martial arts and the way of the samurai. He learned respect and grew up with great honor. He wanted to enhance his family name as great members of the Japanese society.

At the age of 15 he left his home and felt that he was ready to join the militia. He attended the academy and was soon recognized as one of the top students in his class. His only true competition was the son of the Shogun to the Eastern Warriors. The two were instantly rivals, not for hatred of each other, but because of their obvious equality in skills and abilities. Unfortunately, Oshira was ranked second in his class at the time of graduation and he was instantly bitter. He felt that Kwan Tua'Mo was at a distinct advantage since his father was in a place of such great authority but, nonetheless, he pushed his hatred aside and congratulated Kwan. Deep within, Oshira felt that someday he would gain the spot he so rightly deserved.

Serving first as legioneers to the stronger and more powerful Army of the West, Kwan and Oshira were put together in a platoon of soldiers, but they were soon picked from the front lines, and stuck into the schools of the ancient arts and ways of the samurai. Finally, Oshira had his chance to fufill his dream. The class consisted of 12 young men all with an extraordinary ability to fight both armed and unarmed. Through their studies, they learned everything of the samurai. The laws, the traditions, the fighting style, and the precious secrets of their society. As they studied and practiced, Oshira had obviously become the best in the class and his skills stood out far beyond any others at his level in all of Japan, but somehow Kwan continued to be the leader of the program and this enraged Oshira. He began to plot a way to gain the position he rightfully deserved. Shortly after, the Shogun of the western army, Tai Lo'Mnioy, caught word of the great success his former soldier was having. He sent some of his "troops" to go watch the young apprentice and they reported back to the general of the great injustice that was occuring within the clans. This outraged Tai that so much corruption had slipped into the clans innermost sanctuaries. He sent for a private meeting with Oshira, and watched him personally as several small quests were put in front of Oshira as he attempted to make his way to see the high ranking official. When he did finally arrive to meet the Shogun, he was quite disappointed to discover that this was not a private personal meeting between the two of them. Worried of being sent back to the low ranks of being a soldier, Oshira did exactly as he was told. He knelt on a small stool with a red cushioned pillow on top of it, in the center of the room and was presented with a large goblet. As all of the men around him removed their hoods, he recognized a few as high officials in Japan. When Tai presented the situation to Oshira, he wasn't sure what to think. Tai presented the offerings from the great clan Assamite and told how it was the most honorable, feared, and respected clan throughout the world. He told of the dark faith and after hours of endless stories and history of the clan, Oshira had made his decision and drank from the blood of his elders. With this he was then given an assortment of wonderous new items to help him accomplish that which must be done. A small silver knife, a beautifully crafted platinum katana with a blade that looked as though it would never dull, and a small ring which would protect him from his greatest enemy(sunlight), so that he could stay among the ranks of the Samurai until it was time for him to move up.

Oshira graciously took the items and after a few weeks of training in his new vampiric traits, he was sent back to his original camp to complete his quest. (Tai had a grudge with Kwan's father anyways, so this was more of a personal vendetta than anything else). Using his new skills, Oshira snuck into his enemy's room long past the time when all others had gone to sleep. He pulled the silver dagger from his belt and held it in the moonlight just above his victim. He watched as Kwan slept, and then struck. He dug the dagger deep into his chest and watched the shock in Kwan's face as he tried to scream, but no sound emitted (quietus). He pulled the dagger from his chest and sucked the last of Kwan's life from his neck. Shortly after, Oshira was made into a Samurai and the murder of Kwan was left unsolved but many had their suspicions. Oshira was then put up as the predessor of Tai as the Shogun of the Western Army, but his position did not last long. The King of Japan soon called upon him to be his personal body guard.

He served the throne of Japan and outlasted many of the kings themselves, but none ever questioned his long lasting life span due to the great honor and respect he showed to those he protected. He put his life on the line for the kings many times and was the most trusted by the royal family, never detering from his mission. The royal family was glad to have him, and they didn't mind his unusually long lifespan

The most recent of these rulers has decided to attempt to enhance the power of his family. He sent his son to attempt to take over the position as prince of Anahiem in California, and establish a foothold for clan Assamite in the western portion of the US. A few days after his son, Seichi, was sent into the US, the king decided that it would be best to send Oshira after him to protect his son. (I'm going to start leaving out details in order to make this go quicker - Ryan) Seichi defeated Sentos (the Brujah prince of Anahiem), but had no urge to play the part of Prince and Terek had stepped in and made other plans anyways. Terek set up a puppet in Anaheim that would allow him to control Anaheim from a distance. This was fine with Seichi who then set off to explore the US. Oshira, following orders from his master, followed Seichi intently and didn't really mind seeing this "new world". (Seichi's story seperates here as he was another player's PC who went his seperate way and became an NPC of the guys campaign - Ryan).

Oshira was commissioned by a group of Assamites to follow a party to the northern reaches of Canada to find an elder Assamite who had supposedly been researching a reverse curse to cast upon the Ventrue who had cursed the Assamite Clan. His mission was basically just to make sure the party didn't screw things up. When he arrived at the northern castle, he was treated like a noble while the party was treated almost as servants. The lost Assamite was none other than the great Sir Lancealot. He had a present for Oshira which turned out to be an old friend of his. At dinner that evening, Oshira recieved a special present from Lot (as he had become known). The great sword of King Arthur (literally, it's King Arthur's spirit imbued into a sword). He had been saving it for the right person, but before Lancealot could explain what he needed from us, the castle was attacked.

blah blah blah...skip to NYC...

Now living in New York, Oshira was sent to discover what the Prince of NYC was like (a Ventrue). He discovered the corruption in the system instantly, and decided that this would end now. He exploded into action and after a short battle with a few guards, the prince lay in the clenches of Oshira's fangs. Another PC then used dominate on Oshira and forced him to release the prince (this caused a huge fight in real life). But the PC was highly against diablerie, so I let it slide, but as he carried off the prince to avoid me diablorizing him, I claimed the throne of New York City and ordered him to return the prince to me. The man turned to me and stated, "And as your Elder, I demand that you treat me with respect" and that ended that arguement.

I then left for college and got screwed out of my position as prince. Another player character took over as prince and died within a gaming session or two....so, I must regain my position sometime when I get a chance. Sorry this is so long, I didn't realize how vast his history was....I had to leave out a lot. (= - Ryan

Advantages:
Highly trained military background
Charmed Existence - Very lucky (may ignore one botch per roll)
Acute Sense of Hearing
Eidetic Memory - can recall any memory with precise accuracy

Disadvantages:
Vengeful - Must redeem himself in his own eyes. In the name of his family, to disgrace is to dishonor.
Casts no reflection
Fear of spiders
Refuses to use modern weapons (guns and such)

Special Equipment:
Ancient Katana - Dmg = Str+7 Diff. to hit = 5
Ancient Dagger - Dmg = Str+2 Diff. to hit = 7 or 2 if sneak attack
Ring of Protection from Sunlight
King Arthur (nodachi) - Dmg = Str+15, Diff. to hit = 7, Charisma = +5 bonus, Str= +3 bonus, ward vs. anyone else, +1 to all clan skills

Possible Uses for the Character: I would be most tempted to use Shivan as a foil for any PCs that have their eye set on the princedom of NYC. Whether you decide to have him actually be the prince or in contention for the position, he could well prove to be a formidable foe.

Another thought that comes to mind is to have the PCs run into descendants of Kwan Tua'Mo who have dedicated their time to discovering who murdered their ancestor. It could be that they are part of another Clan or that the family simply refused to believe that it wasn't Shivan and have held a grudge through the centuries. The Tua-Mo family could hire the PCs to do a bit of dirty work for them. - Arislyn
