Racial Abilities:
Just the natural versatility that comes to humans.
Class/Kit Abilities:
Mikah is well versed in the use of several different weapon types: darts (specialized), longsword, composite shortbow, warhammer, daggers and he has learned the sword and shield fighting style. He is also skilled in rope use, endurance, bowyer/fletcher, direction sense, blind-fighting, swimming, animal lore, fishing and horseback riding.
Physical Description:
Brown hair, pale blue eyes, and a boyish face that would belie his age by at least five years. Still having the wide-eyes of curiousity has led to the downfall more than a few adversaries who mistook him for naive. He's used that same boyish charm to rook a number of unsuspecting individuals into a game of darts, some for money, others for ale.
History:
I grew up in the forest village of Gavan and frequently explored the mountains and caves near my home. As I grew to adolescence, my father taught me his trade of Bowyer/Fletcher. At the same time I began my training with the Composite ShortBow….Oh, you don’t want ALL those details?
Well, okay, suffice it to say I learned a lot from my father and uncle.
Another love of mine is throwing darts (I specialize in this), and being the show-off that I am, it’s one of my favorite past-times in taverns. I’ll challenge almost anyone to a game (for money or ale…doesn’t matter).
I prefer fighting one-on-one and don’t mind challenging the largest adversary first and if another jumps in during the encounter, too bad for the other guy.
Although I am a capable swimmer, I avoid it whenever possible (notwithstanding the need for bathing). My fear of unfamiliar waters, or such that I can’t see through, came about as a result of a traumatic experience as a boy…a fish brush brushed against my leg while swimming. I know it’s only psychological, but…
I had served my four-year conscription, with our local militia and had pretty-much settled down in my fathers shop, though feeling a little restless.
I started adventuring thanks to a dart game, the man I was playing against commented they could use someone with my throwing ability if that same person could handle a blade as well.
In my first real encounter with this group, a bowman and I went ahead to take out the guards, heh, there were 4 of them and I took out three before my partner let fly his first arrow. The poor guards didn’t know what happened. (We had signed-on with a villages Night Watch, because of some problems they were having with a band of Lizardmen). We had tracked there raiding party to their lair…it wasn’t a pretty sight for them, and we made out pretty well even after the loot had been re-claimed by the villagers. For instance, I found this sword with a gauntlet permanently attached, which we learned later to be a Gauntlet of Ogre Power. Job completed, we were thanked, and went on our merry way…and happened upon two caravans that were under attack and answered the call of another village.
This one was being taunted by a blue dragon. This one took a bit more work, but was WELL WORTH the time it took to track to its lair!
The reputation gained from that job brought solicitations to assist another town with similar problems involving a Red. After dispatching this one, we carried as much loot as we could and became so engrossed in the catacombs that led out of her lair, that we had been forgotten (or thought to be dead). And spent the better part of five months investigating. It was fun, but returning to daylight just about blinded us.
We spent the next three years doing odd jobs – mostly contracts to search for lost artifacts – and decided to disband. Two of our member decided to buy a ship to explore the oceans and ply the trade routes.
I think I’d like to go to Westgate…who knows, I might run into something along the way…
Advantages:
Ambidextrous
Disadvantages:
Very mild phobia of water. Actually, it's not even really a phobia. Let's just call it a "dislike".
Special Equipment:
Darts +3 (x7)
Warhammer +1
Darts of Homing +3 (x3)
Arrows +1 (x23)
Potion of Climbing
Potion of Healing
Potion of Water Breathing
Eye of Ultravision
Periapt of Wound Closure
Possible Uses for the Character:
Considering that Mikah is a merry show-off, it wouldn't be unusual at all for the PCs to run into him in a tavern and end up loosing a good deal of their hard-earned (or ill-gotten) cash to him. Depending on the PCs, this could just add a bit of atmosphere, or it could lead to more ominous things.
He has also gone up against two dragons. Not something everyone can boast about. He could easily be a good source of information about dragons.
